Motorola Razr 50 Release Date, Price and Specs Rumors
The Razr 40 Ultra stood out as one of the best foldable phones in 2023, combining impressive performance with excellent versatility.
Now Motorola seems to be preparing for its successor. Just don’t expect a design overhaul; more minor changes are very likely.
Here’s everything we know about the Razr 50 Ultra, which will likely be known as the Razr+ 2024 in the US.
When will the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra be released?
Although we haven’t received confirmation from Motorola on the release date at this stage, the release dates of recent models give a rough idea:
Based on last year, Motorola will likely release the Razr 50 Ultra June or July 2024. However, it could repeat the situation of 2022, when the launch outside China was postponed by several months.
If Motorola sticks to current naming conventions, it is likely that the new Razr 50 Ultra will be marketed in the US as the Razr+ 2024. MSPowerUser, a site that leaked a photo of what is believed to be the Razr 50 Ultra, states: “ The phone will be available in the US through Verizon Wireless, one of Motorola’s long-term partners, under the Razr+ brand.”
An exclusive report from Smartprix also claims that the Razr+ 2024 name has been confirmed for the US release. Moreover, we can “expect the phone to launch next month, i.e.: June 2024.”
How much will the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra cost?
According to the same Smartprix report, the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra/Razr+ 2024 will cost $999 in the US for the 12GB/256GB variant. This price matches that of its predecessor, the Razr+ 2023, which also debuted at $999 for the 8GB/256GB configuration.
This report also indicates a potential price tag of €1200 for the EU market, similar to last year’s Razr 40 Ultra. Similarly, the expected price for India is INR 89,999, which is equivalent to the Razr 40 Ultra’s 2023 launch price.
Although not stated, this could mean the £1,049 price in Britain could also remain the same as last year.
For context, here are the launch prices of the previous models:
Foldable phones are generally expensive, but Motorola has managed to keep prices relatively reasonable. At this point, given the recent reports, we expect the company to maintain current prices without additional cost increases.
What specifications and features will the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra have?
While the technical specs for the new model remain unclear, leaks of a near-identical design suggest Motorola could opt for a minor refresh.
Here’s everything we know at this stage.
Design
Last year, Motorola made a huge change when it came to the design of its foldable smartphones. The Razr 40 Ultra went for the look of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, ditching the previous curved design reminiscent of the former Motorola Razr phones.
MSPowerUser has revealed what is reportedly the first renders of the Razr 50 Ultra. It bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor, which is especially evident when you take a look at the front panel.
It still appears to have a significant bezel around the screen to protect the screen, plus a punch-hole selfie camera.
On the back, the design consists of two separate parts: an upper part with two cameras (main and wide-angle cameras) and a screen, and a lower part made of gray material with the Motorola logo.
This setup suggests the possibility of introducing a completely new color variant for the upcoming model. In contrast, its predecessor initially launched with three color options: black, blue and red (with Apricot Peach Fuzz added to the lineup later).
According to Smartprix, the phone will be available in three color options: Midnight Blue, Spring Green and Hot Pink. It means that the previously leaked image from MSPowerUser may be the Razr 50 Ultra/Raz+ 2024 in Midnight Blue finish.
Moreover, this report claims that the phone will have IPX8 water resistance and eSIM support.
Display
Last year’s model had a 6.9-inch 2640x1080p 144Hz poLED screen and an additional 3.6-inch external panel.
A recent report from Smartprix claims that these specifications will remain the same.

Performance
Previously, MSPowerUser reported that Motorola has named its upcoming flagship Razr handset ‘Glory’ and is developing it under the model number ‘XT-2453-3’, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.
Now, a report from Smartprix confirms that the Razr 50 Ultra/Razr+ 2024 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
In the previous model we were dealing with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and a maximum of 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Cameras
The Razr 40 Ultra had 12MP main and 13MP ultrawide cameras on the back, along with a 32MP selfie camera on the front. In our review we indicated that the two main lenses are not bad: solid specs, but nothing special.
These are still better specs than the Galaxy Z Flip 5, especially when it comes to the selfie camera, but Motorola could be tempted to upgrade this year.

Indeed, Smartprix claims that the Razr 50 Ultra/Razr+ 2024 will feature a brand new dual-camera setup on the back, with a 50MP wide-angle lens and a 50MP 2x telephoto lens. Meanwhile, the same 32Mp front camera takes care of the selfies.
Charge battery
Last year’s model had a 3800mAh battery with 33W charging power.
According to Smartprix, the Razr 50 Ultra/Razr+ 2024 will have a slightly larger 4,000mAh battery, along with support for both USB-C wired charging and wireless charging. However, speeds haven’t been revealed for either.
Software
The Razr 40 Ultra was equipped with a modified version of Android 13, which bore a striking similarity to Google’s standard version, but has many additional features.
It is therefore almost certain that the Razr 50 Ultra/Razr+ 2024 will come standard with Hello UI on top of Android 14. Android 15 is on its way, but the phone will likely be released sooner.
Motorola also promised three major version updates last year and we haven’t heard anything changing yet, so it’s safe to assume this will be the same.
However, Smartprix reports that “the Razr 50 Ultra will be Motorola’s first foldable clamshell with integrated AI-powered photo/video capture and AI editing tools.”
That’s all we know for now about the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra/Razr+ 2024. In the meantime, check out the other best foldable phones you can buy right now.
