Cazoo has entered administration, a mere three years after its ambitious $8 billion flotation in New York.

Used car search platform MOTORS has acquired the Cazoo brand, announcing plans to transform it into an advanced, mobile-first digital marketplace.

This strategic move aims to leverage MOTORS’ extensive 15 years of experience to deliver a fresh and innovative car purchasing experience.

In the coming weeks, MOTORS will unveil a brand new Cazoo app, followed by a revamped website with more than 250,000 used car listings. This initiative aims to attract more car buyers and streamline the car search process, thereby increasing consumer engagement and satisfaction.

Barry Judge, CEO of MOTORS, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, saying: “Despite its challenges as a business, Cazoo has undoubtedly become a household name among car buyers. We have the expertise and inventory to immediately develop the new Cazoo location into a modern marketplace for used cars. We will build on the excitement and engagement the Cazoo brand has already created among consumers to drive more sales demand for our dealer partners.”

Highlighting the benefits for auto dealers, Judge noted that dealer partners of the MOTORS MultiSite packages will automatically receive free visibility on the new Cazoo platform. This integration provides dealers with a great opportunity to leverage Cazoo’s established brand awareness and traffic, expanding their reach and potential sales.

Daniel Ozen, president of O3 Industries, echoed Judge’s sentiments, saying, “We know that today’s car buyer visits an average of 4.2 websites during their search journey. With just one invoice, dealers can advertise to millions of car buyers on MOTORS, eBay, Gumtree and now Cazoo, increasing their online visibility and lead generation. This acquisition underlines our ambition to be an important partner for dealers and to bring attention to car buyers via the internet.”

The MOTORS website will continue its operations, offering car dealers access to a wide audience through its network of sites, including partnerships with eBay and Gumtree. The investment in the Cazoo brand will strengthen MOTORS’ position in the market and provide a robust platform for both car buyers and dealers.

As MOTORS embarks on this exciting venture, the car buying landscape is poised for significant improvement, promising a seamless, easy-to-use experience for consumers and a powerful tool for dealers to expand their market reach.
