National Latin American Media Coalition in Honor of Issa López and Harvey Guillén

True Detective showrunner Issa López and Harvey Guillén are among the notables to be honored by the National Hispanic Media Coalition at its annual Impact Awards gala next month.

The Washington DC-based advocacy group will also pay tribute to director Fede Alvarez, athlete Tatyana Ali, the Los Angeles Football Club and streamer Tubi. Actress Annie Gonzalez and Mayan Lopez will host the ceremony on June 14, which will take place at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.

“We are honored to honor these powerful figures who represent the present and future of the entertainment industry,” said Brenda Victoria Castillo, president and CEO of the NHMC. “This year’s winners embody where our community is going and are pushing their industries forward by simply taking up space and using their platforms to uplift other Latin American creatives. This year, more than ever, it is imperative that we continue to celebrate our Latinidad in all aspects of our society, and NHMC is committed to ensuring that our community is recognized – not just at our gala, but in every space.”

Guillén is known for his work on FX’s comedy series ‘What We Do in the Shadows’. Alvarez’s latest film, “Alien: Romulus,” will be released in August. Ali will be recognized for her advocacy in the areas of maternal health and reproductive rights. The Los Angeles Football Club will receive the community impact award, while Tubi will be honored for presenting content that reflects the authenticity and diversity of Latino experiences.
