Nicola Coughlan slams Trolls and claims the waist was photoshopped in Bridgerton

Nicola Coughlan recently told us People magazine that body-shaming trolls who claim Netflix photoshopped her waist to look skinnier on “Bridgerton” are completely misinformed. While it’s true that her body shape is changing, that’s only due to the amount of corsets Coughlan had to wear while filming three seasons of the Netflix hit.

“I think if you wear corsets long enough, your body really molds to them,” Coughlan said in response to the claims. “Sometimes they come to a fashion designer and they put me in a corset and I think, ‘Oh, you can go tight,’ and they say, ‘What do you mean?’ I’m like, ‘My body is going to start wheezing now.’

“I’ve seen a few trolls. They said, ‘They photoshopped your waist,’ and I said, ‘No, they didn’t,'” Coughlan added.

It’s not the first time Coughlan has taken on her trolls. During a question and answer session for Bridgerton season 3 in Dublin earlier this month, Coughlan was told she is “very brave” to do nude scenes in the series.

“You know, it’s hard because I think women with my body type – women with perfect breasts – don’t see ourselves on screen enough,” Coughlan joked back. “And I am very proud to be a member of the perfect breast community. We don’t see ourselves on screen enough.”

Coughlan even asked to appear naked on screen in Bridgerton season 3 to silence her body-shamers. She told the Los Angeles Times last month, she worked closely with “Bridgerton” intimacy coordinator Lizzy Talbot on her Season 3 sex scenes, saying, “You say, ‘Okay, what do I want to show? What don’t I want to show? What is scripted and what do I want to add?’”

“I specifically asked for certain lines and moments to be included,” Coughlan continued. “There is one scene where I am very naked in front of the camera, and that was my idea, my choice. It just felt like the biggest ‘fuck you’ of all the conversation surrounding my body; it was astonishingly powerful. I felt beautiful in that moment and I thought, ‘When I’m 80, I want to look back at this and remember how damn hot I looked!’”
