This past week, wedding bells tolled, inviting Naija celebrities to do their due diligence in the wardrobe department. By Sharon Ooja and her ‘Odogwu silencer’, Ugo Nwoke Unpleasant Davido and his beautiful wife Chioma, and a number of engagement announcements, it’s officially wedding season. Star-studded events create a fashion show that goes beyond what we are used to. A plethora of looks were served up, with little demand for elaborate ensembles. Each piece had a simplistic look, but one that should not be mistaken as ordinary.

Besides the simplicity of these stylish Nigerian looks, another common denominator was an effortless expression adorned with poise. The renderings ranged from evergreen all-black get-ups to a full entry of floral patterns. With more and more high-profile weddings on the horizon, the certainty that we’ll see more celebrities peacocking in flamboyant outfits is something to be expected.

Her pleated flowy dress, which exposed her shoulders, made for a sexy release. As she walked into Nollywood actress Sharon Ooja’s ‘Love Unites Us 24’ wedding, this seductive attack was a royal hit. The one-sleeve number featured an abundance of ruffles on the sleeve and bottom, which promoted a tell-tale wave. It is not without reason that yellow is the biggest color of summer dresses. While celebrities, high-end fashion designers, and even influencers may have different silhouette preferences, they all seem to agree on this ray of sunshine. As cliché as it may sound to correct a style flaw with a black dress, the downside is that in your heart you never choose basic.
