A woman is dead after a fatal crash Friday evening on Aurora’s Smoky Hill Road.
Aurora officers responded to reports of a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Smoky Hill Road and Tufts Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Friday, police said in a statement on social media. The intersection is just south of Quincy Avenue.
Police said the woman – who has not yet been identified – lost control of her motorcycle and crashed into the guardrail. The crash caused the woman to fall off her motorcycle and die on the spot from her injuries.
The woman was likely speeding at the time of the crash and no other vehicles were involved, police said.
The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will identify the woman at a later date.
Smoky Hill Road was closed in both directions for several hours Friday evening while the crash was investigated, police said.
