Palmer Candy expands its recall due to the risk of Salmonella

The Palmer Candy company has expanded its recall of coated dessert and snack products to include additional expiration dates. The recall is due to possible Salmonella contamination.

The recalled candy items were distributed nationally at Walmart, HyVee, Target, Dollar General and to distributors in Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

The product comes in various retail packaging such as bags, sachets and tubs.

No diseases associated with this problem have been reported so far.

Palmer Candy was notified by its liquid coatings supplier that there was a potential for salmonella contamination from an ingredient that may have been contaminated by one of their suppliers.

Production of the product has been suspended while the FDA and the company continue their investigation into the cause of the problem.

Consumers who purchased Palmer Candy Company white-coated confectionery are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
