Pat Mc Afee Calls Caitlin Clark 'White Bitch'

ESPN host Pat McAfee apologizes for calling Caitlin Clark a “white bitch,” but insists he meant it as a compliment to the WNBA rookie.

During the opening moments of Monday’s show, McAfee discussed one of the biggest sports stories of the weekend: a tense moment when Clark elbowed Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter, and Carter responded by shoving Clark to the ground.

Since Clark is the highest profile player to join the WNBA – and its team, the Indiana Fever – she has been the focus of other teams.

The confrontation between the two players helps promote the story of rival WNBA players are jealous of the attention paid to Clark.

On Monday, McAfee disagreed with the idea that the entire WNBA 2024 draft class deserved credit for the league’s higher profile, saying Clark deserved all the credit.

But he came under fire for the way he said it.

“No, just call it what it is,” McAfee said on his show. “There is one white bitch for the Indiana team who is a superstar.”

Of course people had thoughts.

Shortly after his show, McAfee took to X, formerly Twitter, to more or less apologize, while emphasizing that calling Clark a “white bitch” was meant as a compliment:

“I shouldn’t have used ‘white bitch’ to describe Caitlin Clark. No matter the context… even if we’re talking about race as a reason some things happen… I have way too much respect for her and women to put that out into the universe.

My intentions when I said it was complementary, just like the whole segment, but many people say it certainly wasn’t at all. That is 100% my fault and for that I apologize… I also sent an apology to Caitlin.

Everything else I said… still all facts. #Journalism #WNBAProgram #She’s the one
