Peter Slavin will lead Cedars-Sinai

Peter Slavin, who headed Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for nearly twenty years before stepping down in 2021has taken a new job as head of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Slavin, 66, will start Oct. 1 as president and CEO of Cedars-Sinai, a facility dubbed the “hospital for Hollywood stars.” He will also lead parent company Cedars-Sinai Health System, which includes several other company-owned and affiliated hospitals and a network of outpatient clinics.

Cedars-Sinai is located on the west side of Los Angeles, bordering Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, where actors, celebrities and show business professionals live and work. But while movie stars are often treated there, the 1,048-bed healthcare system – ranked by U.S. News among the nation’s best hospitals – serves a much broader population in the region and beyond, with more than 1.8 million outpatient visits in the year ending June 30, 2023.
