This is one of the best multifunctional air fryers we’ve tested. It has more cooking methods than most rivals and does almost everything at a very high level. It is also powerful and produces delicious food.

ProCook is a UK-based kitchenware brand that has recently expanded its range of electrical appliances to include air fryers, food mixers, blenders and more.
The air fryer’s stylish health grill can of course air fry, but it can do much more. Find out if this is the right purchase for you in our full review.
Design and construction
- 12 cooking functions
- Simple rotary and knob operation
- Includes grill, glass lid, pan and vegetable drawer
The health grill of the ProCook air fryer is larger than it looks in the photos. It is a large, clamshell-shaped device measuring 40 x 40 x 28 cm. You’ll need plenty of room to put it down – and if you place it close to the wall, you’ll have to pull it forward to open the lid when you want to use it. However, the height won’t be a problem: it can easily be opened under standard kitchen cabinets.
It’s made of high-quality stainless steel and plastic and its curved shape makes it an attractive addition to the countertop – a good thing, because with a weight of 10 kg, you won’t want to move it once you’ve found a spot for it .
For singles, couples or young families, the ProCook is one of the best air fryer multicookers I’ve tested
Like most multicookers, it comes with a set of accessories to transform the way you use it. It has a cooking pot with semi-ribbed bottom for grilling, a vegetable basket, a grill rack and a glass lid. The pot and basket are non-stick and all accessories are well made and dishwasher safe. ProCook even throws in a cleaning brush. Still, there’s no place in or on the device to store the extras, so you have to store them in a cupboard.

The health grill has a digital display and rotary and knob controls. It has a total of 12 cooking functions: frying, roasting, roasting, baking, dehydrating, slow cooking, grilling, steaming, steaming, keeping warm, grilling and preheating. The controls are also easy to use: use the dial to select a cooking method, then adjust the time and temperature as needed. Many of the cooking methods have an automatic preheat function at the start, but can easily be turned off if you wish. There is also a manual mode.

One thing you may have noticed is that although this appliance is not sold in the US, it does – very strangely – use American cooking terminology. Many people in the UK will not be familiar with the words baking tray and roasting, so clearer instructions on how to use these settings would be welcome.
As an indication, grilling is very similar to grilling, where food is cooked from above with intense heat – although the ProCook also has a separate grill function. Grilling uses heat from above and below.
Most multicookers specialize in dry cooking (air frying, roasting, grilling) or wet cooking (stewing, slow cooking, steaming), but you can make almost anything in the ProCook air fryer grill, with any possible cooking method. The main limitation is the size and shape: for example, you can’t get a whole pizza in it. But that applies to most air fryers.
There is also a clear focus on fresh food and cooking from scratch; for example, there is no defrost mode. There is also no shake/turn notification halfway through a cooking program. But the warnings you get are at a good volume: unlike some rivals, they’re not deafeningly loud.
Features and performance
- Cooking surface 33×22 cm
- Scarce instructions
- Multi-stage cooking in one pan
One of the few problems with the ProCook is the fact that it only comes with a thin leaflet explaining how to use it. There’s more help on the ProCook website, where some recipes are hidden under the appliance’s product information, but it’s unlikely you’d think to look there or remember where to find it when cooking.
The lack of information provided means you have to decide which accessory to use with each cooking method (not difficult), but also figure out the best cooking time and temperature (more challenging).
The ProCook Air Fryer Grill seems more efficient than many other models and when I started using it I routinely overcooked everything, turning all types of food into dried out pellets.
If you’re using a standard air fryer, I recommend turning off the preheat function first when frying – or reducing the cooking time by at least five minutes.
But once you get the hang of cooking in the health grill, I think you’ll be impressed. The cooking pot has a large cooking surface of 33 x 22 cm, providing plenty of space for a roast piece of meat, a family portion of fried potatoes, a stew, a grilled breakfast or a pile of fries.
There is not enough room to cook an entire dinner for a larger family. However, for singles, couples or young families, it’s one of the best air fryer multicookers I’ve tested. It’s just so versatile. You can prepare a different kind of dinner in it every night of the week and never have to resort to the oven.
One of the first tests was roasting a piece of beef – and since it was an early test, I slightly overcooked it. If you want to fry or roast meat regularly, you will need to invest in a meat probe. The ProCook Air Fryer Grill does not come with a grill, unlike similar Ninja appliances such as the Health Grill and the latest dual tray air fryer.
I also made a stew. Using the griddle function I was able to brown the onions in the stockpot, although the lid had to be closed while cooking and stirring was not as easy as on a stovetop. Still, they cooked evenly and quickly.

I then changed the cooking mode, set an hour, added the rest of the stew ingredients and put the glass lid on. It cooked slowly and never seemed to reach the bubbling temperature you would quickly get on a stove top. But it was perfectly cooked and surprisingly tasty and flavorful – even though I had put it together from whatever ingredients I could find in the fridge.

Although stews cook well, sauces probably don’t. This is partly due to the wide, flat shape of the cooking pot, which creates too much surface area for cooking smaller quantities, and partly due to the semi-ribbed base of the cooking pot, which is not ideal for stirring a consistent sauce.

But really, it’s nonsense to talk about the one thing it can’t do when it does so many other things so well: roasting, steaming, steaming, slow cooking.
And of course the main event. Not all air fryers are the same and some do not crisp properly. Not so the ProCook, which reliably makes crispy foods: skin-on chips, made fresh from sliced potatoes, cooked quickly and coming out with a cloudy center and crispy skin.
The proCook is so versatile. You can prepare a different kind of dinner in it every night of the week and never have to resort to the oven
And when you’re done cooking, it’s also easy to clean. The heating coil is covered by a splash guard, which you can simply take off and clean, and all accessories can be dumped in the dishwasher – although for longevity we recommend using the included brush for a gentle clean.

Price and availability
The ProCook air fryer health grill is only available from ProCook in the UK. It is not available in the US. It costs £179, which makes it good value for its quality and features. It’s the same price as Ninja’s Health Food Grill, which has a similar high-quality build and cooking space, but fewer cooking modes.
