Rebecca Henderson series 'Driven' Aboard Mise En Scene

London and New York-based film sales agency The Mise En Scene Company (MSC) has diversified and secured world rights to the scripted series ‘Driven’.

The show stars Rebecca Henderson, known for her roles in “Star Wars: The Acolyte” (Disney) and “Russian Doll” (Netflix), and Liza Colón-Zayas of “The Bear” (FX).

Produced by O Positive Films in New York and created by David Shane, repped by 3 Arts Entertainment, “Driven” centers on Theodora “Teddy” Fischer (Henderson), an Uber driver and struggling post-postmodern novelist. Teddy’s life reaches a low point after she is fired from an animated children’s show due to a controversial episode and her wife’s departure. When she contemplates suicide, a ride request from Yari Alvarez, an overly confident, deaf Puerto Rican yodeler, changes her path. The meeting leads them to Yari’s parents’ McMansion, where they face rejection from Yari’s no-nonsense mother, Reina (Colón-Zayas), and an awkward confrontation with her conflict-avoidant father, Hernan (Gary Perez).

O Positive has completed a pilot episode and, along with MSC, will bring the show to potential production partners, TV networks and streamers in the US and UK

Shane, who started his career working for “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, has directed high-profile commercials with Robert De Niro, Timothée Chalamet, Patrick Stewart and Will Ferrell. Shane has received numerous awards, including six Cannes Lions and an Emmy.

The deal was brokered by Paul Yates and Rory MacDonald of MSC, who handle global sales, and Shane of O Positive.

Yates said: “We are very excited to be making our move into the scripted arena, this is new territory for us as our primary focus to date has been on feature films. We love the show, it’s a hilarious, sophisticated, irreverent drama with sharp social commentary and refreshingly bold portrayal. Our hope is to find manufacturing partners and distributors willing to help us complete the series. Fortunately, the show doesn’t suffer from the outlandish price tag of similar high-end scripted shows, and we’re seeing a healthy appetite in both the industry and audiences for productions like this. It is a pleasure to work with David and we are happy to continue our collaboration to make the show the best it can be.”

Shane added: “This is an exciting step for our company to move into the scripted space. We look forward to bringing this show to the world and we are delighted to be working with the team at MSC, whose expertise and passion match our ambitions for the show.”
