Report says Biden feels no sense of urgency at border

Apparently, after promising to take executive action to better secure the US-Mexico border, Joe Biden now feels no sense of urgency to do so.

At least according to a new report of Politics.

Has the president paid any attention to border chaos at all?

We still have a border problem, Mr. President.

In February, the Biden administration was expected to take executive action on the border crisis as Congress continued to pursue a spending package that would combine border aid with aid to Ukraine and Israel.

But according to Politicsthe White House no longer has a sense of urgency on this front.

“They’re in that pretty classic mode of, ‘Nothing’s on fire right now,’” one immigration advocate told Politico on condition of anonymity.

The story continued:

The administration could still move forward unilaterally in the coming weeks or months, a White House official said, adding that no specific action previously considered has been confirmed or ruled out. But the longer time frame reflects a renewed belief that the president now has some room to address the matter.

The president’s team believes that the rejection of a bipartisan border deal by Republicans in Congress and the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have allowed them to neutralize the political backlash Biden has faced and even some reap advantages at the polls. With border crossings no longer as high as they were in December, White House officials want to give Biden’s recent border messaging — that Republicans are using the issue for political gain — as much traction as possible.

“[Biden’s] I just had a lot of confidence in those messages,” said a person familiar with the administration’s thinking, who was granted anonymity to discuss private conversations. “So I think they’ll continue to try to explain that to the public.”

Biden is wiser at the border

With his poll numbers in key battleground states below Trump’s, it may not be wise for Biden to continue ignoring the border chaos.

What’s more, as president he should at least care about one of the worst crises facing the country.

But according to Politico, he simply doesn’t.
