Rudy Giuliani sparks backlash after calling Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis a ‘ho’ at Christian event
The Democrats fired back Rudy Giuliani for calling the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office Fani Willis a “ho” when speaking at a religious event, RadarOnline.com can report.
The controversial former mayor of New York is one of nineteen alleged co-conspirators who have been charged Donald Trumpin the Georgia election interference case, which is being prosecuted by Willis’ office. Giuliani is facing 13 charges for his role in the ex-president’s alleged scheme to overturn the 2020 election results in the state when he served as Trump’s personal attorney.
Giuliani spoke at the far-right ReAwaken America tour in Sterling Heights, Michigan, on Friday, and as he addressed the Christian crowd, the Trump ally took aim at Willis.
“I have two accusers, Fani the ‘ho,’” he said, pausing as the crowd erupted in cheers. “I’m sorry,” he continued sarcastically, drawing laughter from the crowd before mocking the way the prosecutor pronounces her name.
“I could drop the ‘whoa’ part if she would just stop and go away,” Giuliani added.
Although the crowd seemed to embrace the comments, several Democrats were outraged. Former US Representative Donna Edwards appeared on MSNBC and called the derogatory comments “really disgusting.”
Edwards accused Giuliani of contributing to “the continued dehumanization of Black women,” adding, “I think Black women see that, I think all women see that for what it is.”
Mother Jones DC Bureau Chief David Koren echoed Edwards’ response, calling Giuliani’s speech a “secondhand racism and misogyny.”
“So Rudy Giuliani called Fani Willis a ‘whore’ at a right-wing Christian party,” Corn wrote on Xadding that the former mayor “seemed very pleased with himself.”
Giuliani turned himself into an Atlanta jail last August, and after posting $150,000 bail, told reporters he was “honored” to be involved in the case.
“This case is a fight for our way of life,” he said, according to the newspaper Associated press. “This indictment is a travesty.”
Last week, the case was postponed until an appeals court could decide whether Willis should be excluded from the case. Several suspects have repeatedly filed requests to have the prosecutor removed, arguing that her romantic relationship with the special prosecutor Nathan Wade created a conflict of interest. Wade was hired in 2021 to lead the investigation that resulted in the indictment, but withdrew from the case in March.
Sources familiar with the matter noted that the timeline “remains highly uncertain,” the newspaper said CNN.
Giuliani is also charged in a similar election interference case in Arizona. This week, he pleaded not guilty to nine felonies related to his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in that state using fake electors who supported Trump.
