A runaway car crashed through the front of a post office in Bailey on Friday evening, forcing a temporary suspension of retail operations.
As a customer drove toward the post office at 24 River Drive, he lost control of his brakes and crashed through the front of the building, a U.S. Postal Service spokesperson confirmed Saturday.
The post office was closed at the time of the crash and no one was injured, according to a Saturday news release from USPS.
PO box mail and packages can be picked up at the rear entrance of the building during normal business hours: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, the release said.
Retail operations are available nearby at Pine and Conifer locations.
The Pine Post Office – located at 187 Mount Evans Blvd – is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Conifer Post Office – located at 9546 South Dallman Drive – is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Saturdays from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Crews are on site at the Bailey Post Office to make the building safe and accessible, according to Saturday’s release.
