Steve Bannon must report to prison

Steve Bannon, a longtime ally of ex-President Donald Trump and former White House aide, was ordered to report to prison by July 1 to serve a four-month prison sentence for his contempt of court conviction by Congress in 2022.

Judge Carl Nichols on Thursday granted prosecutors’ request to revoke Bannon’s bail after a three-judge appeals panel declined to overturn his conviction last month.

Bannon was convicted after defying a subpoena from the House of Representatives committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Outside the D.C. courthouse, Bannon remained defiant after Nichols’ ruling.

“There is no prison built or built that will ever silence me,” he told reporters. ‘We’re going to win this. We are going to win at the Supreme Court and we are going to win on November 5.”

Former Trump advisor Peter Navarro does currently in service a four-month prison sentence after being convicted of the same crime as Bannon. In March, the Supreme Court rejected Navarro’s bid to remain free.

Despite losing his appeal, Bannon added that he “has great lawyers.”
