HBO announced the third season before season 2 ended.

Sadly, Mike White’s series isn’t coming back anytime soon – HBO has pushed back the premiere date of The White Lotus to 2025.

Where will The White Lotus season 3 take place?

It was initially speculated that the new season would be set in the Maldives – that resort was mentioned by Daphne during her farewell dinner with Cameron, Ethan and Harper in season 2.

There were also rumors that the team wanted to shoot the third episode of the show in Japan. However, HBO has finally confirmed that season 3 will happen in Thailand.

What will be the plot of The White Lotus season 3?

At the time of writing, HBO had not yet revealed any plot details for the new season. However, it is known that the story will focus on religion and spirituality.

In a video unpacking the season 2 finale, Mike White stated:

The first season focused on money, and the second season focused on sex. I think the third season might be a satirical and funny take on death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.

In a recent interview for Entertainment Weekly, the show’s creator revealed the following:

It’s going to be super big white Lotus. It gets longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think about it, but I’m super excited, so that’s at least a good thing for my own barometer.

Tanya McQuoid, played by Jennifer Coolidge, connected seasons 1 and 2. However, after Tanya died in the season 2 finale, we now know she has no chance of returning. The question is: who might be back in season 3 instead of them?

But you may have to wait to find out what happens.

The creator also joked about the return of the Di Grasso family:

Who knows, maybe there will be another one white Lotus season where Dominic comes with his wife and they fix everything!

Considering that the voice of Dom’s wife was recorded by Laura Dern in season 2, such a turn of events would be welcome.
