This Is The Worst Performing Airline In The U.S. Ahead Of Summer 2024

This is evident from a recent study by NerdWalletFrontier Airlines had the most delayed flights in the United States: more than 30.7% of flights were delayed and 2.13% of all flights were canceled. Unfortunately, the airline led all other airlines in both categories with only 66.99% of flights arriving on time.

In terms of delayed flights, JetBlue was a close second with 30.4% of delayed flights, while Spirit Airlines came in third with 28.5% of flights. In terms of canceled flights, the order remained the same, with JetBlue in second place with 2.1% and Spirit Airlines in third place with 1.7%.

The American ultra-low-cost airline operates flights to more than 100 locations in the United States and 31 international destinations. They recently announced a new nonstop flight, three times a week from Charlotte to Miami, starting at $29.

Among the top airlines, Delta Air Lines had the highest on-time rate at 82.6%, according to the study. SkyWest Airlines (a Delta regional carrier) had the lowest rate of flight delays at 16.01%, while Alaska Airlines had the lowest rate of flight cancellations at 0.81%.

How to avoid delays. Here are some tips for your summer vacation:

Book the earliest flight of the day so you don’t have to wait for the plane from another destination to arrive.

Do your best to avoid layovers and book nonstop flights, even if the plane tickets are slightly more expensive.

Choose an airline that has multiple flights on the day of your flight. If your flight is booked, the airline will rebook you on the next flight free of charge.

Look for alternative routes to reach your final destination. For example, if your flight to San Francisco (SFO) is canceled, look for flights to Oakland or other Bay Area airports.
