Rykwalder said he was driving his 2020 Dodge Ram on Interstate 65 in Tennessee on Nov. 12, 2022. He said he was stopped on the interstate because traffic had stopped in front of him.

He said Grayson was driving a 2020 Ford 5150 pickup directly behind him around 5:15 p.m. He said Todd and Julie owned the car.

Rykwalder said Grayson was driving the car with his parents’ permission.

“Suddenly and without warning, defendant, Grayson M. Chrisley, negligently and recklessly rammed his vehicle at a high rate of speed into the rear of plaintiff, the motor vehicle of Patrick S. Rykwalder,” the complaint states.

Rykwalder accused Grayson of being a “distracted driver” who “failed to pay attention to the roadway in the moments immediately preceding the rear-end collision while the vehicle of the plaintiff, Patrick S. Rykwalder, was stopped.”

The man said Grayson “failed to act appropriately under the circumstances, including maintaining a safe working distance from other motor vehicles, maintaining a safe driving speed and avoiding distractions from electronic devices in his motor vehicle.”

Rykwalder claimed that Grayson’s actions caused a significant collision between the cars and caused him to suffer injuries to his body.

“If the defendant, Grayson M. Chrisley, had been paying attention to the roadway in front of him, this accident would not have occurred,” the complaint states. Rykwalder accused Grayson of refusing to take responsibility for the crash.

The lawsuit sought damages between $25,000 and $750,000 and punitive damages. Savannah was added to the lawsuit because he said she was Grayson’s legal guardian. In January 2023, she was given joint legal guardianship of her brother.

Todd and Julie recently responded to the lawsuit. They denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

Moreover, they denied the man suffered some injuries. The couple demanded that the lawsuit be dismissed.

Back in 2022, TMZ reported that Grayson was rushed to hospital after the accident. Police said the reality star could not remember details of the crash due to possible head injuries.
