Trump cancels Paris 2024 opening ceremony

Donald Trump has criticized the opening ceremony of Paris 2024.

Washington:

Donald Trump on Monday called the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics a “disgrace” after its creators came under fire for what some said was a show that had gone too far.

“I’m very open-minded, but I thought what they did was disgraceful,” Trump told Fox News.

His comments followed condemnation by Catholic groups and French bishops of a ceremony scene featuring dancers, drag queens and a DJ in poses that appeared to be reminiscent of images of the Last Supper, although the creators have said it was not intended to undermine the religious setting display.

The series received international criticism from Christian groups and far-right politicians on social media.

When host Laura Ingraham asked him what he would do if re-elected president in time for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Trump responded: “We won’t have a ‘Last Supper’ like they depicted it last night.”

Thomas Jolly, the director of the opening ceremony, later responded to the criticism by saying he intended to “reconcile” and “fix” the production.
