Trump supports Florida's recreational marijuana amendment

Former President Donald Trump says he supports a ballot measure in Florida that would legalize recreational marijuana in the state.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump, a voter from Florida, voiced his support Amendment 3a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would legalize recreational cannabis use for those 21 and older.

“Florida, like so many other states that have already passed, will legalize personal quantities of marijuana for adults with Amendment 3.” Trump reported on Saturday. “Whether people like it or not, this will happen through voter approval, so it has to be done correctly.”

Trump said there should still be laws in the state banning marijuana use in public spaces “so we don’t smell marijuana everywhere, like in many of the Democrat-run cities,” he continued.

Residents will vote on the ballot initiative in November. While polls have shown this State residents are overwhelmingly in favor of the amendment, while Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has spoken out against legalization.

“We don’t need to ruin lives and waste taxpayer dollars by arresting adults carrying personal amounts of it, and no one should grieve a loved one because he or she died from fentanyl-laced marijuana,” Trump said. “We will make America SAFE again!”
