Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will speak Wednesday at the Wilson Center’s Washington Forum on the Canadian Economy in what will likely be his last policy speech before the central bank’s next meeting.

Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem joins Powell. They are expected to jointly discuss “the economic outlook, monetary policymaking in their respective countries and the continued value of the Canada-U.S. economic relationship,” according to a Wilson Center news release. place.

It appears that markets expect the Fed to keep interest rates steady at least until September. Recent higher-than-expected inflation data has forced investors to revise their expectations that the Fed would steadily cut rates this year.
