Storylines
France: Thierry Henry’s side are tasked with regaining the gold medal for France for the first time since 1984, but the French manager already seemed pleased with what they achieved in the pre-match press conference. In fact, Henry has faced multiple issues in recent weeks, given the number of players denied entry to the tournament. “This event is special because in our sport you don’t think about coming second or third, or winning a medal. So our story is a success. Let’s make it better,” he said on Thursday.
Spain: There are a lot of expectations for Spain after they managed to make their second appearance in a gold medal match after losing to Brazil and winning the silver medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Denia’s side will have every motivation on their side to try and win the competition for the first time since Barcelona 1992, when they hosted and won the competition.
