In a surprising development as Moore approaches her 62nd birthday in November, the heartthrob actress opened up about her new film, The substanceafter it premiered in Cannes.

According to Moore, she was happy to be “pushed out [her] comfort zone” and push boundaries further.
“I’ve always looked for roles that pushed me out of my comfort zone, and that were also thoughtful and provocative,” says the actress. told The Sun during the weekend. “If I look at something and it scares me a little, I usually know there might be something in it.”

“Because if I don’t do things that take me out of my own comfort zone, I can’t grow,” she explained. “It’s not always easy to look at yourself. But it’s exciting. It’s great to feel the excitement.”
Moore also discussed her role in The substance and her character’s dynamic with the 29-year-old costar Margaret Qualley. She called the film’s script “very unique,” “very complex” and “raw.”

According to Moore, she was happy to be “pushed out [her] comfort zone” and push boundaries further.

“The script was very unique, very complex,” said the actress, “and it really required a level of vulnerability and exposing yourself in a very raw way.”
“I had a great partner in Margaret, who I felt very safe with,” she continued of her younger co-star. “We were obviously very close – naked. We got a lot of levity in those moments about how absurd those particular situations were.

“When I went into it, it really became apparent, the level of vulnerability and rawness that was needed to tell the story,” Moore further explained. “It was a very vulnerable experience and required a lot of sensitivity and a lot of conversations about what we were trying to achieve.”
