Will Ferrell and Ramy Youssef create Netflix comedy series 'Golf'

Will Ferrell and Ramy Youssef will co-star in “Golf,” a comedy series set on Netflix. Josh Rabinowitz also serves as co-creator.

Ferrell plays a fictional golfing legend in the 10-episode series. Details about Youssef’s character are not yet known.

Youssef and Rabinowitz serve as showrunners and executive producers alongside Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor for Gloria Sanchez Productions; Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue for T-Street; and Andy Campagna for Youssef’s Cairo Cowboy.

Ferrell is best known for his seven seasons as a cast member of “Saturday Night Live,” appearing in films such as “Elf,” “Anchorman,” “Talladega Nights” and “Step Brothers,” having co-starred the last three titles with Adam McKay. More recently, he appeared in ‘Barbie’, ‘The Shrink Next Door’ and ‘Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga’. Ferrell’s credits as a producer include ‘Succession’, ‘May December’, ‘The Menu’, ‘Booksmart’ and more. He will next be seen opposite Reese Witherspoon in the Amazon Prime Video comedy ‘You’re Cordially Invitationed’. He is represented by UTA, Mozaïek, The Lede Company and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Youssef is best known for creating and starring in ‘Ramy’ on Hulu and for playing Max McCandless in the 2023 Yorgos Lanthimos film ‘Poor Things’. He is also the co-creator of Netflix’s ‘Mo’ and directed a season 2 episode of FX’s ‘The Bear’. Youssef recently released the HBO stand-up special “More Feelings,” a sequel to 2019’s “Feelings.” He next serves as creator and star of the animated Amazon series “#1 Happy Family USA.” He is repped by WME, Entertainment 360, Narrative and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman.

Rabinowitz has written for “Broad City” on Comedy Central and “The Carmichael Show” on Hulu. He is also co-executive producer of “Ramy” and co-wrote the Ilana Glazer-led film “Babes,” which opens May 17. He is repped by UTA, Entertainment 360, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman.

The news came ahead of Netflix’s first-ever presentation at upfronts, following the streamer’s addition of an ad-supported layer in 2023.
