Expert assessment
Positives
- Self-cleaning and drying mop
- Automatic emptying
- Anti-hair wrap
- Switches between floor types
Cons
- The base takes up floor space
- Poor recording on thick carpet
- Emptying is noisy
Our verdict
The M12 Pro+ vacuum mop from Yeedi is ideal for homes with multiple hard floors. It mops the edges and even the corners before using hot water to hygienically clean and dry the pads, so there is minimal maintenance. Although it can handle a low-pile carpet, those with thicker carpets will still need to grab a separate vacuum cleaner: the single rotating brush and brushroll aren’t enough to leave soft floors dirt-free.

The first mop vacuums were simple, often just used water on board and had no way to clean the pads other than loosening them and putting them in the washing machine. Stacked against Yeedi’s M12 Pro+ vacuum mop, the difference is palpable. Not only does the base have large tanks for fresh and dirty water, it also cleans the double pads with water at 70°C and even dries them into the bargain. Even better, they swing outward to reach edges and corners before rising when a soft floor is encountered. That, plus the automatic dust disposal, means you may never have to reach for a mop and bucket again.
Design and construction
- Station retains dust for 3 months
- Cleans and dries mop pads
- Robot vacuum cleaner has a suction power of 11,000 Pa
Although the robot itself is an average size (H4 x W13.8x D13.8in), there’s no getting around the fact that Yeedi’s M12 Pro+ vacuum mop station is somewhat imposing in anything other than a large room. Finished in black plastic with a section at the bottom protruding, it takes up a significant amount of floor space (H18.9 x W16 x D19in) and requires 20 inches of clearance on each side. Add two water tanks on top (4 liters for clean and 3.5 liters for dirty), and you should also leave access space above it. It also comes with a 3.4 liter dust bag that promises to hold up to 90 days of dirt.

The robot vacuum is well built to handle most floors: it’s equipped with a pair of sturdy, deep-tread wheels for climbing on softer floors, plus a single small wheel to help it maneuver. In the center is a single brush roll with a V-pattern and anti-static bristles, which help prevent hair tangling.

These combine with a suction power of up to 11,000 Pa to suck up dust. Inside, in addition to a 300 ml dust container, there is also a 55 ml water tank for mopping. At the top you’ll find a trio of buttons that allow you to enable a number of functions so you don’t have to reach for your phone, such as spot cleaning, starting, and going home.
Performance and features
- LiDAR navigation and maps
- App functions hidden in submenus
- Strong on hard floors, less effective on carpet
Although you can manually use some of the functionality of the M12 Pro+ vacuum cleaner, most settings and preferences are located in the app. Here you will find the 2D and 3D maps, which are fast thanks to LiDAR sensors. It initially mapped our floor in a few minutes before filling in the details.
The vacuum is also packed with technology to prevent it from falling down stairs or colliding with objects, although we did notice a few collisions: these were usually with objects moved from one location to another or sometimes with our feet. Smaller items, such as a cat toy, were not avoided as one was wrapped around the brush roll. If we moved or rotated the base, the robot vacuum had trouble finding it again until it was manually placed back in to charge.

The app itself is mostly easy to use, although you may have to open multiple menus to find what you’re looking for, or wait for the robot to complete a task before changing certain settings, like card layouts or schedules. Scheduling proved especially tricky because our app was set to the Chinese time zone and couldn’t be changed, so hopefully updates will correct this.

However, the base is easy to change so you can choose the suction power, mopping level, mopping, vacuuming or a combination of both and so on. The more powerful cleaning levels eat up battery life quickly, but if kept at the lower levels, the makers estimate the M12 Pro+ can last nearly five hours on a single charge.
The most attractive feature of the M12 Pro+ is its automatic emptying and self-cleaning ability
After cleaning the entire floor, we used the spot cleaning feature to see how the M12 Pro+ handled dust (flour) and dirt (porridge) on both hard and soft floors. Spot cleaning can be activated by a single press of a button on the robot vacuum cleaner, which then activates a surface cleaning of 1 m². We set it up to do this twice.
Cleaning the hard floor (with the vacuum cleaner and mopping) was all the more impressive: all traces of flour had been picked up and only a few oatmeal gruels had been swept around by the rotating brush. We especially liked that the mop pads could be extended and retracted for reasonable cleaning from edge to edge and in the corners – something some robot vacuums promise but don’t deliver. Although most of the flour was removed from the carpet, about a quarter of the oats remained and were scattered.

What could be its most attractive feature, however, is its automatic emptying and self-cleaning capabilities. Once back at the base, the robot vacuum cleaner empties into its larger container. It’s loud – 80 dBA – around the level of a lawn mower. From there, the base uses hot water to clean the mop pads, and then hot air to dry them, which is a more sanitary and convenient solution than most.
Price and availability
The Yeedi M12 Pro+ is available from Yeedi for $899. You can also buy it from Amazon. The list price on the site is $1,099, but it’s generally available for $899 and at the time of writing there’s a voucher on the page for $100 off.
Self-cleaning and self-emptying robot vacuums are always expensive and the Yeedi M12 Pro+ is no exception, but if you take a look at our round-up of the best robot vacuums we’ve tested, you’ll see that this is the best priced for its feature set. The question is whether it is worth paying more for a robot vacuum cleaner with more powerful carpet cleaning.
Should you buy the Yeedi M12 Pro+ vacuum cleaner?
If you’re short on time, have large areas of hard floors or smaller spaces where there are a lot of pets or children, Yeedi’s M12 Pro+ vacuum mop could be a smart addition to your home. This allows you to replace a small and frequent cleaning and a weekly deep cleaning with the occasional emptying of a dust bag and some dirty water, plus refilling a new tank.
There’s still a way to go before it performs as well on medium-height carpet, but if you never want to mop a floor again, you probably don’t have to with the M12 Pro+.
