The Google Play Store is getting a new feature This allows you to ask your friends to make payments for your Google Play purchases. While the Play Store allowed you to pay for in-app purchases or services, there was no feature that allowed users to seek payment assistance from others.

Previously, you could pay for Google Play purchases with debit cards, credit cards, and other payment options. However, the latest feature allows you to seek payment assistance, in case you encounter any issues while paying on the Play Store.

A new Google Play Store feature lets you seek payment help from your friends

While this year’s Google I/O revolved around Gemini and AI, the company made some feature announcements around its apps and services, including the Google Play Store. And now it looks like we’re starting to roll out these features. Android Authority reports that you can now get a ‘Ask someone else to pay’ button on the Play Store payment page. From the name itself you can see what this function is intended for.

Not to forget, the ‘Ask someone else to pay’ option is only available if you purchase a service or in-app item from an app that uses Google Play Billing, provided the app developer has integrated it with version six or newer version of Play Billing Library. After all this, you’re probably wondering how the “Ask someone else to pay” feature works, right?

Here’s how to use the ‘Ask someone else to pay’ feature

When you select the new option, the Google Play Store will display another button called “Share Payment Link.” Once you click that button, the Play Store will generate a shareable payment link. Let’s say you want to ask your friend to help you with your Google Play purchases. All you need is to copy the generated payment link and send it to your friend. On the other hand, the recipient of the payment link must click on the shared link. And make the payment for you, it’s that simple.

That said, the latest feature is only available in India as of now. There’s no word on whether Google plans to expand this feature to other regions. But one thing is certain: the new feature could increase Play Store purchases over time. Moreover, it will cater to Google Play users who depend on their parents or family.
