CNN cuts off Trump press conference.

CNN anchors called Trump’s press conference a tirade without a teleprompter and cited its “disjointed” presentation.

Wolf Blitzer interrupted CNN’s live coverage at 11:24 ET and said: “We continue to listen to what the former president has to say. But clearly without a teleprompter. He’s coming out of the closet. He denounces almost everything.”

Erin Burnett added, “And Wolf, the fascist state, is of course the line that stands out. But when you point out the other key to the teleprompter, it’s gotten way out of hand, so you go on a tirade and relive the case and how he sees it. But then it’s kind of a bag, right? When we talk about polls, talk about his role, or talk about hiring a witness, talk about electric vehicles. I mean, it’s very disjointed in presentation.

CNN interrupted Trump at 11:24 a.m. ET. At 11:28 a.m. ET, MSNBC had also interrupted Trump.

The fact that two cable networks made the decision to dump him is important because Trump won the 2026 election in large part on billions of dollars in free media. Eight years later, Trump isn’t even getting full attention for his comments, having been convicted of 34 crimes.

By pointing out that Trump spoke without a teleprompter, the network provided their viewers with important factual context about Trump and his ability to communicate effectively. Pointing out that Trump’s was off his teleprompter and incoherent highlights his mental capabilities and provides important context for Trump’s behavior.

For years, cable news has sold Trump’s inconsistent mental state as normal, so it was refreshing for CNN to provide proper context for Trump’s comments.

CNN didn’t have to say it, but Trump is clearly not mentally the same as he was in 2016, and that was reflected in his failed attempt to overturn his convictions.
