Diane Kruger and Jo Joyner to Lead Paramount+ Thriller 'Little Disasters'

Diana Kruger and Jo Joyner will helm a new psychological thriller titled “Little Disasters” at Paramount+ UK and Ireland.

Based on the novel by Sarah Vaughan (“Anatomy of a Scandal”), the series explores female friendships and motherhood through the lens of four women “who have little in common, aside from their due date.”

Kruger (“Troy”) plays Jess while Joyner (“The Wives”) plays Doctor Liz. The quartet is completed by Shelley Conn (“Bridgerton”) as corporate lawyer Charlotte and Emily Taaffe (“The Rising”) as the free-spirited Mel.

“When Jess takes her daughter to the hospital with a head injury she can’t explain, her good friend and on-call ER doctor Liz is forced to make the excruciating decision of whether or not to call social services for her old friend,” the statement reads. logline. . “This decision sets in motion a chain of events that shows how one moment can fracture and nearly destroy entire families and friendships.”

Also joining the cast are JJ Feild (“Turn”) as Ed, who is wealthy but overburdened, and Ben Bailey Smith (“Star Wars: Andor”) as Liz’s husband Nick. Stephen Campbell Moore (“The History Boys”) plays Rob, Mel’s husband.

“I believe this series will provide a relatable story that explores the crippling judgment placed on mothers by society,” Kruger said. “The story so wonderfully explores the fragility of reputation, with the rapid unraveling of Jess’ seemingly perfect life. I can’t wait to develop Jess’ character and explore the challenges of motherhood through her eyes.”

“Little Disasters”, which has already started filming, is produced by Roughcut Television in association with Fremantle. Eva Sigurdardottir will direct the series.

The book was adapted into a film by Ruth Fowler and Amanda Duke. Ash Atalla, Alex Smith and Marianna Abbotts produce for Roughcut. Simon Judd is executive producer for Fremantle. Sarah Vaughan is also an executive producer, while Myf Hopkins produces. The show was commissioned by Paramount+ UK & Ireland by Sebastian Cardwell and Paul Testar.

The series will be available on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland. Fremantle handles international distribution.
