While it’s important not to take the polls seriously at this point, the latest New York Times Poll shows momentum is growing for President Biden.

The New York Times reported:
Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump are now virtually tied, with Mr. Trump leading 46 percent to 45 percent. That’s an improvement for Biden since late February, when Trump had a wider lead of 48 percent to 43 percent just before he became the presumptive Republican nominee.

Biden’s upward movement appears to stem largely from his improved standing among traditional Democratic voters — he is winning a larger share of voters who supported him in 2020 than he did a month ago. At the time, Trump had won the support of far more voters from his past than the president — 97 percent to 83 percent — but that margin has narrowed. Mr. Biden is now winning 89 percent of his supporters in 2020, compared to 94 percent for Mr. Trump.

For months, the Biden campaign has been grappling with a strange problem. The internal Biden poll showed that many voters did not believe Republicans would nominate Trump for a third time. Democratic and Republican politicians have been expressing the belief for months that once Trump wins his party’s presidential nomination, reality will set in for voters and his poll numbers will drop.

Trump’s lead in the polls is seen as a mirage based on an electorate that isn’t paying attention. It’s only April and most of the electorate is still not paying attention. Therefore, no credence should be given to any poll.

Interestingly, The Times also admitted this in its article Something I pointed out earlier is that the specific polls on individual groups of voters cannot be conducted at this time. so no one should put much faith in one or the other candidate leading certain groups of voters.

What should not be ignored is the overall trend line. Biden now leads Trump in nine polls. Biden also leads Trump in the poll average across all polls.

Don’t think much about the specific numbers until the fall elections roll around, but Trump is not leading in “all the polls” as he likes to claim. The ex-president loses. The Democrats are coming home and they’re supporting Joe Biden.
