How to disable Xiaomi 14 Mirror Selfies

I’ve been using the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra for a while now, and it’s a great phone, but something about the camera app annoys me.
I was sitting in my local pub taking pictures of my beer, as I often do. My wife and daughter came with me, so I started taking some selfies of us with the Xiaomi 14 – only something seemed strange about the photos.
After scrolling through it for a minute, I realized everything was wrong. The fireplace was on the wrong side of the pub and the text on my t-shirt was backwards. I don’t want my photos to be a mirror world and you probably don’t either.
I’m used to the on-screen preview being mirrored, but it’s normal for phones to flip the photo when you look at it later.
Of course, there’s no problem flipping them with software after you’ve taken your photos – see our guide to how to flip a photo in the Android Guide – but you don’t want to do that for every selfie you ever take, so here is how to fix this It.
- Open the camera app on your Xiaomi 14 (or 14 Ultra) and tap the little down arrow at the top to open a menu.

- Now tap the gear at the top right.
