A senior aide with oval office access turned on Trump in a secret briefcase of documents

Special counsel Jack Smith asks Trump to stop commenting on law enforcement officials in the classified documents case.

Smith wrote this in a petition to Judge Aileen Cannon The Washington Post:

In the new lawsuit, Smith asks Cannon “to make that clear.” [Trump] may not make statements that pose a significant, imminent and foreseeable danger to law enforcement officers participating in the investigation and prosecution of this case,” adding that a warning from the court is necessary due to “several deliberately false and inflammatory statements recently made by Trump distorting the circumstances under which the Federal Bureau of Investigation planned and executed the search warrant at Mar-a-Lago.”

“A restriction that prohibits future similar statements does not limit legitimate expression,” the special counsel wrote. “Trump’s release conditions should therefore be amended to prohibit similar communications in the future.”

Smith did not ask for a gag order, but for a change to Trump’s release conditions to prohibit him from making false statements about law enforcement officers.

Trump falsely alleged, and is attempting to cash in on, the false claim that Biden authorized the use of deadly force against him in the search for Mar-a-Lago.

The truth is that the search was carefully timed to take place when Trump was not there, to avoid confusion or confrontation with Secret Service agents. The purpose was to search the premises to recover stolen government property that Trump refused to hand over.

The goal was never to harm the ex-president or anyone else.

Since this request is being made to Trump’s favorite judge, it wouldn’t be surprising if Smith’s request was denied.

Trump has been unable to get his supporters motivated and interested in lawsuits, so he is resorting to false claims of assassination attempts. Jack Smith was right. Trump is putting a target on the backs of law enforcement, and if he is not stopped, lives will be at risk.
