Jamie Raskin questions Dr. Anthony Fauci during a House committee hearing.

During the House of Representatives Republican hearing with Dr. Fauci on the COVID-19 pandemic, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) called out House Republicans for loving and adoring convicted felons.

Raskin told Fauci, “Dr. Fauci, I would like to join my colleague from Florida in apologizing that some of our colleagues, the United States House of Representatives, seem to want to drag your name through the mud, they are treating you, Dr. Fauci, as a convicted felon actually, you probably wish they would treat you like a convicted felon. They treat convicted criminals with love and admiration, some of them blindly worship convicted criminals. Is there anything else you would like to say to the American people about your service to America during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Considering the way Republicans have acted since Donald Trump was convicted of 34 crimes, Rep. Raskin is right. Republicans have sided with Trump and attacked the justice system. There have been no calls for Trump to step aside and let someone else, who is not a convicted felon, be the party’s presidential nominee.

Republicans Treat Dr. Fauci, who guided the nation through a deadly pandemic, as a villain, while they treat the convicted felon who didn’t listen to Fauci and had Americans murdered as a hero.

Raskin’s comments highlight the broken moral compass of the Republican Party.
