Lindsey Graham snaps at Kristen Welker in heated exchange over Biden’s threat to deprive Israel of weapons
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) got into a heated argument with NBC’s Kristen Welker above chairman Joe Biden‘s threat to stop supplying weapons to Israel if an invasion of Rafah goes ahead, RadarOnline.com has learned.
On Meet the press on Sunday, Mediaite According to reports, Welker asked Graham why he objected to Biden’s decision and when Ronald Reagan threatened to block arms deliveries to put pressure on Israel.
“President Biden is not the first president to use arms shipments to influence Israeli policy,” Welker said. “As you know, former President Ronald Reagan on several occasions withheld weapons to influence Israel’s military actions. Has President Reagan shown that using US military aid as leverage can actually be an effective way to contain and influence Israel’s policies?”
“When you tell the world that you are going to restrict the supply of weapons to the Jewish state, which is waging a war for their survival, it emboldens Iran,” Graham responded. “It encourages Hamas. [Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar is probably excited about the idea. There is daylight between the United States and Israel. The hostage deal is more difficult. This is the worst decision in the history of the American-Israeli relationship to refuse weapons at a time when the Jewish state could be destroyed.”
“Historians would say, why is it OK for Reagan to do this and not President Biden?” said Welker.
“Why is it okay for America to drop two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end their existential threat war?” Graham responded. “Why did we think it was okay to do that? I thought it was okay. To Israel: Do what you have to do to survive as a Jewish state! Whatever you have to do!”
“Once again, military officials say the technology has changed,” Welker said.
“These military officials you’re talking about are full of c—!” Graham shot back.
