John Fetterman calls out J.D. Vance

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) blasted Senate Republicans for shouting about securing the border and then blocking a border security bill.

After Senate Republicans blocked passage of the bipartisan border security bill by a 43-50 vote, Senator Fetterman said, “I voted yes again on this bill because I know we need to secure our border, and this bill would do that to help. But I’m tired of this political theater. I have Republican colleagues who will shout about border security all day long, but voted against this bill because they would rather campaign on the issue than actually do anything about it.”

Democrats must continue to bring up the border security bill through the 2024 elections. If Republicans want to commit to border security, then Democrats must commit to their solution to secure the border that Republicans will not vote for. The next question Republicans must face is what their plan is to secure the border.

Clearly, their plan to secure the border is the Senate’s bipartisan border bill, which Donald Trump won’t let them pass because he has centered his presidential campaign around this issue.

Fetterman was right. This is political theater that Republicans are using to regain control of the Senate. However, if Biden and Democrats win in November, the border bill that Republicans rejected twice should disappear forever.
