An imagination remains that way until the bold dare to translate it into our realm. The past week has seen a flood of creative attire with a disregard for the ordinary. From embellished capes to intriguing silhouettes and colors dancing in symphony, Black celebrities delivered looks that vibrated with gusto. We can thank the 77th “Festival de Cannes” for these striking ensembles that had a big impact on both our timelines and our mood boards.

In the meantime, Kerry Washington continued her serial win with two interesting fits: one with a Thom Browne print and the other, a white tiered flare dress from Christopher John Rogers. The non-stop style performance from black women did indeed make this compilation a bit difficult, but it was still totally worth it.

The looks

While many celebrities were neck deep at the Cannes Film Festival, Alicia Keys chose to drive to the Gordon Parks Foundation dinner in all her sequined glory. Before the event, where her beau Swizz Beats received an award, Keys opted for black loose-fitting sequin trousers, teaming it with a matching blazer and long coat for an electric take on fashion. She softened the all-black outfit with a silver bralette and completed the look with a black wide-brimmed hat and matching pumps. We call the look: a sharp bit of je ne sais quoi.

Elsewhere, Fantasy Taylor went all out in a Roberto Cavalli animal print dress. In keeping with the brand, the loud prints made a statement on an otherwise simple form-fitting dress. She styled this with statement gold jewelry and gold sandal heels from Dolce and Gabanna. From the wild prints to her gold accessories and her sharp tattoo, the overall look gave a nod to loud luxury.

While all eyes were on the 77th ‘Festival de Cannes’, Jodie Turner Smith quietly sneaked into the film premiere of ‘The Acolyte’. The only problem was that even if Ms Turner-Smith tried, she couldn’t blend in with the crowd. From her unmistakable look to her cobalt blue Armani Privé number, the stylish model stood out in all their finesse. The strapless sequined dress sat on her body like a glove as her skin glowed with the glory of melanin.
