The K-Pop Experience reality show picked up by BBC

“Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience” was recorded by the BBC for British audiences.

The six-part series follows five British contestants as they are flown to South Korea and undergo rigorous 100-day K-pop training in the hope of becoming the world’s biggest new boy band.

“Cameras go behind closed doors for the first time at SM Entertainment to see the band working with the world’s biggest choreographers, singing songs from the best songwriters and learning from some of the most respected experts in the K-pop business” , it says. the log line.

The boys are immersed in Korean life and K-pop culture and receive intensive lessons in choreography, voice and performance. They are also offered life coaching techniques.

Meanwhile, K-pop mogul Hee Jun Yoon, who has overseen some of the country’s biggest bands over the past two decades, will be on hand to oversee and critique the boys’ efforts.

The series was created by Moon&Back Media, who worked on “The X Factor” and with bands like One Direction, in collaboration with K-pop talent power SM Entertainment and Kakao Entertainment America.

“This unique acquisition will demonstrate exactly what it takes to make it in the world of K-pop,” said Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment at the BBC. “Witnessing the band coming together and being put to the test promises to be a very exciting prospect for audiences.”

Nigel Hall, co-founder of Moon&Back Media said: “’Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience’ combines the best in class from both K-pop and the global entertainment production world. Creating a British boy band, putting them through the unprecedented rigors of K-pop and launching them onto the world stage creates both a world first and essential television.”

The show launches on BBC One and iPlayer this summer. ITV Studios handles international distribution for both the format and the show.
