Trump Media's accountant is accused of massive fraud

Republican MAGAs in the House of Representatives have come up with a plan to change the law to protect Trump from prosecution, but the plan is considered dead in the water.

Politico reported:

Republican leaders in the House of Representatives are privately gauging support for legislation that would allow both current and former presidents to move a state case to federal courts, four Republicans familiar with the effort confirmed to POLITICO. It already looks dead in the water.

….

But it’s not clear whether the bill — led by Rep. Russell Fry (R-S.C.) — has the votes needed to clear the House, according to three of the people, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity. And even if it could pass that chamber, it is almost certainly dead in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

The MAGAs in the House of Representatives are pressuring Speaker Mike Johnson to allow a vote on the bill as a show of support and unity behind Trump, but that gesture will backfire on Republicans if they pass the bill put to the vote and it is not adopted. .

The problem is that there are currently nineteen Republicans in the House of Representatives who hold seats in districts that President Biden won in 2020.

For those Republicans, any vote to protect Trump is likely career suicide. Republicans in Biden districts won and were able to keep their seats by not being MAGAs. If they voted to change the law to protect Trump, the vote would be used against them every day until the end of the 2024 election.

Even the Republicans in the House of Representatives cannot help convicted criminal Trump.
