Trump’s lawyer spirals out of control and cannot break the connection with Cohen’s jury

Trump’s lawyer, Todd Blanche, is reportedly giving long speeches to please his client, while Michael Cohen and the jury remain connected.

MSNBC’s Adam Klasfeld posted from the courtroom before the lunch break:

Blanche gets excited and starts an indignant speech without clear questions:

‘We don’t ask about your faith. […] This jury…”—

Prosecutor: Objection.
Judge: Persistent

Blanche continues his angry statements, no questions, about the 14-year-old’s harassing phone call.

Prosecutor: “Objection.”
Judge: “Persistent.”

On that note: lunch break.

Cohen regularly gives his testimony directly to the jurors, and they maintain eye contact with him even during a controversial cross-ex.

It seems like Todd Blanche is more interested in appeasing his client and sounding like an angry fighter, rather than presenting a case to the jury that could undermine Cohen’s testimony.

With a mountain of documentation and plenty of witness testimony for the prosecution, Trump’s legal team still hasn’t offered much of a defense beyond claiming Cohen acted alone.

It’s fair to wonder whether this cross-examination fiasco is doing more harm than good for Trump.

Sure, the performance makes Trump feel better, but it doesn’t seem to accomplish anything.

Donald Trump will debate President Joe Biden in six weeks, and there appears to be a growing possibility that he will do so as a convicted felon.
