Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery release date, cast and plot
When the crime comedy Knives On hit theaters in 2019, no one expected the film to be such a success. The film flirted with the formula of Agatha Christie’s detective stories and helped Daniel Craig prove he could play more than just James Bond and made Ana de Armas a star.
A clever twist on the classic whodunnit genre, hilarious social satire and a sensational cast made the film a huge success and caught the attention of Netflix. The streaming giant bought the rights to the sequels and the follow-up to Knives Out premiered on the service in 2022.
However, the adventures of detective Benoit Blanc do not end there, as several more films are planned. For now, information about the third film in the series is starting to emerge.
We’ve dug into all the clues and hints to find out what to expect from Wake Up Dead Man, aka Knives Out 3.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery title meaning
Rian Johnson, writer and director of the series, enjoys creating metaphorical titles for his crime stories.
The first whodunnit is called Knives Out, which refers to the Radiohead song and to the sharp tools and family feuds that fill the film.
The second title – Glass Onion – refers to a song by The Beatles and is a metaphor for something complex yet transparent.
The third film in the Knives Out series will be Wake Up Dead Man. According to Johnson, the name this time is derived from a song from the U2 album called Pop.
