WITH temperatures ranging from 30 to 40 degrees in many cities in the Philippines, malls have become places to seek shelter from the hot weather. Here are some activities – ranging from Taylor Swift listening parties, furry costume competitions and table tennis lessons – that visitors can try out at various malls around the country:
APRIL 19

This is because they will be hosting TTPD on icea listening party of the pop singer’s latest album, to be held at the SM skating rink at 5e level of the Mega Fashion Hall. Tickets cost P400, which includes a two-hour pass for the following time slots: 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM

Ayala Malls Serin in Tagaytay will have its own “Summer Paw-ty,” which will include a fashion show and a pet supply market. Furry friends are encouraged to dress up in summer outfits to compete for the best costume. There will also be a meet and greet with YouTuber Furmomkhai, who will be bringing her fellow influencer fur-babies Coco, Donny, Mulan and Kisses. The party will take place at 4pm in the Corte section of the mall.
The official, free The department of tortured poets album release party, organized by Swifties Philippines, will be held on Gateway Mall 2 in Araneta town, Cubao. It will take place at 3pm in the Quantm Skyview on Upper Ground B Level. Artists include Taylor Sheesh and Jamella. Early bird registration and sales stands open from 11am
APRIL 21
SM Mall of Asia will organize the Angels Walk for Autism, in collaboration with the Autism Society Philippines. It will be held at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena as a show of support for the autism community. The event takes participants from the arena to the MOA Music Hall, a short distance around the mall complex, making it friendly to all. Register to participate in the walk for free via the SM Online App. Registration for the event itself starts at 7:00 am
It will be SM North EDSAIt’s turn to be home to many Swifties for a day The department of tortured poets listening party taking place in the Skydome at 2 p.m. Taylor Swift fans can enjoy two event passes through the SM Malls Online app, where they can choose to redeem the coupon along with a P1,000 receipt from each SM North Skygarden and Annex tenants.
The same mall will host a costume contest later in the afternoon – not for people, but for pets. The Paw Park at SM North EDSA’s Skygarden invites the most fashionable fur babies to show off their summer style that day at 4 p.m. The tropical-themed activity promises prizes for those who win.
APRIL 19-21
Power plant shopping center in Makati plays summer-inspired soundtracks with live performances from DJs Roy de Borja, Tom Suplico, Girlwpearl and Sky Dominique. The music will play from April 19 to 20 from 4 p.m. until the mall closes.
Ayala shopping centers Solenad in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, will celebrate the love of racing as part of the 2024 Calabarzon Motor Show – but in Lego form. From April 19 to 21, the activity park will host a series of challenges for both Lego lovers and car enthusiasts, such as the highest Lego building competition, the fastest Lego building competition and real races with Lego-made cars.
Wagging the tails in April is “The Forever Home Project,” an adoption drive taking place Ayala Malls The 30e in Pasig City. In partnership with Biyaya Animal Care, the pet adoption drive from April 20 to 21 aims to give furry friends a home. It is open during shopping hours on the ground floor.
At the Glorietta Mall in Makati, parents can take their children to the activity center to play for 30 minutes in a Cocomelon-themed park. They can also meet some of the character mascots. This will be held from April 20 to 21, with the park open during shopping center opening hours and the meet and greets taking place at 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Admission is granted to both the child and parent by presenting a proof of purchase worth P500 from any Glorietta store.
SM Supermalls has released P-pop group HORI7ON’s latest song, “lucky!” in preparation for their live performances. This caps off the group’s comeback tour, which kicked off in March and included more than 10 malls in the Philippines. Their next concert and fan signings begin at 6 p.m SM City Clark on April 19 SM City Bataan on April 20 and SM City Baliwag on April 21.
While the Philippine Table Tennis Federation provides good table tennis lessons for a fee, the Game Parks have run out SM Mall of Asia, SM Southmall, And SM City Fairview invite people to take lessons for free. This rare occasion will take place on April 20 and 21, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at the above-mentioned shopping centers. Federation coaches will be present to give everyone tips and tricks.
