Besides companies, notable government officials were also commended for their contributions to the said industry.

Acclaimed for his remarkable contributions to the country’s IT-BPM industry, Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go became the first winner of the IT-BPM Luminary.

According to IBPAP, a visionary with a track record and insight that has positively impacted the IT-BPM ecosystem and the Philippine economy will receive this award.

“My professional growth is strongly linked to the BPM industry. Almost 25 years ago, I built probably one of the first BPO buildings and acquired quite a few BPO companies across the country,” said Mr. Go as he reflected on his career in his acceptance speech.

He added that the IT-BPM industry has over the years been one of the strongest pillars contributing to the country’s economy.

Quezon City and Iloilo City Local Government Units (LGU) were also recognized for their efforts in facilitating ease of doing business and attracting IT-BPM investments in their respective communities.

“This award recognizes an LGU that consistently collaborates with the IT-BPM industry and IBPAP, implements policies and creates an environment conducive to the growth of the industry,” the host organization said.

Concluding the evening, IBPAP President Jack Madrid asserted that the country’s IT-BPM industry aims to reach 1.9 million full-time employees and more than $40 billion in export revenues by 2026.

“As we look ahead to the coming decades, we can expect more changes and more challenges,” said Mr Madrid.Almira Louise S. Martinez
