Zendaya claims that she too does not know when production on Euphoria season 3 will begin.

Although the “Euphoria” star is an executive producer of the hit HBO series, she said she is “not in charge” of whether the third season will actually happen. But of course Zendaya wants to play Rue again.

“If it’s good for the characters and everything goes the way it’s supposed to, of course,” Zendaya told me Tuesday night at the “Challengers” premiere in Los Angeles. “But it’s beyond me.”

HBO announced the postponement of Season 3 of “Euphoria” on March 25, saying the network and creator Sam Levinson “remain committed to creating an exceptional third season.”

“In the meantime, we will allow our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities,” an HBO spokesperson said Variety at the time.

Three days later, Storm Reid, who plays Rue’s younger sister Gia, became the first cast member to speak publicly about the postponement when she spoke to Variety at the opening of the new Drama Center at USC’s School of Dramatic Arts. She expressed her optimism that season 3 would eventually happen.

“I hope the viewers and the audience can finish the show,” Reid said. “I think we have to be careful with the show. We put our heart and soul into it.”

That same afternoon, VarietyKate Aurthur and Tatiana Siegel reported that the delay was partly due to creative differences. Levinson first proposed a five-year time jump, with Rue becoming a private investigator. Zendaya suggested that Rue, now sober, become a gestational surrogate.

Last week, Hunter Schafer also weighed in on the delay. “I just really miss everyone. Everybody does it terribly doing well in their careers right now,” shared Schafer, who plays Jules Variety at the GQ Global Creativity Awards on April 11. “Everyone is a little bit bloated, and with that comes people who travel a lot. No matter what happens, I’m just excited to get back together once it’s time to catch up and hang out.

Levinson is reportedly working on new scripts.
